  • Colin Jost interrupted Scarlett Johansson's acceptance speech
  • Johansson thanked her collaborators in the film industry
  • Her upcoming movie, "Black Widow," is slated to release on July 9

As actress Scarlett Johansson received the Generation Award at MTV Movie and TV Awards on Sunday, her husband Colin Jost interrupted her acceptance speech with a playful prank.

The "Black Widow" star was honored for her three-decade-long career in Hollywood. While the actress was giving her virtual speech, the 38-year-old comedian dumped a bowl of green slime on her hair and face.

"This award is made possible by all of you, in fact, it's because of that it's so meaningful to me," Johansson said. "What the f--k? MTV! 'You got slimed!'" Johansson said as soon as Jost put slime on her.

"That's Nickelodeon," the actress responded. The "Saturday Night Live" star immediately apologized and said, "I'm very, very sorry, I'll get a towel. ... Love you."

When the actress asked him from where he got it, Jost replied, "Amazon."

The official Twitter handle of MTV posted the actress' acceptance speech and captioned, "Wow! What an honor! The iconic Scarlett Johansson takes home the Generation Award #MTVAwards."

One of the fans reacted to the prank and commented, "That was hilarious. Scarlett and Colin are a perfect match together, and I think he really helps boost her image imo."

Another user wrote, "Congrats, Scarlett! And what a funny bit!" However, the prank didn't go well with some fans. One of them wrote, "That was so grade 3 stupid! SJ should just kick him out now. No need to wait for the obligatory two year Hollywood marriage length. He is a loser!"

Besides Johansson, Sandra Bullock, Adam Sandler, Reese Witherspoon, Jim Carrey, Will Smith, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Pratt were also honored at MTV Movie and TV Awards on Sunday.

Johansson was the highest-paid actress in 2018 and 2019 and earned $40.5 million and $56 million in those years respectively.

She will be featured next in the highly-anticipated superhero movie "Black Widow." The movie will also star David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle and Rachel Weisz. It is slated to release on July 9 in theaters and also on Disney+.
