Napa County police have arrested 23-year-old Christopher “Roly” Young following the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Safeway employee Nathan Garza. The California teen was killed in the grocery store parking lot on Sunday afternoon in American Canyon.

ABC News reports that Garza was delivering groceries to a customer when he was shot. CBS SF Bay Area has confirmed that despite online claims that Garza was killed after asking the suspect to wear a mask, officials state there has been no evidence to validate the speculation.

Police have not released information regarding a motive behind the shooting.

NBC Bay Area reports that Young was apprehended by officers on Monday morning after residents in the area reported seeing an adult jumping over fences and running through backyards.

After trying to piece together witness statements, the authorities got a break in the case when a residential surveillance video showed a male subject matching Young’s description parking and exiting a white Cadillac moments after the shooting.

Following a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a .45 caliber handgun, which was the same caliber handgun used at the Safeway shooting that claimed Garza’s life.

Safeway revealed they have been in contact with authorities following the incident, saying in a statement, “Our team is fully cooperating with the American Canyon Police Department and Napa County Sheriff’s office in their investigation into this tragic situation.”

Garza was a recent high school graduate who had dreams of playing professional baseball. “He loved his baseball. He always preached about his baseball, how he wanted to play for the A’s,” his friend, Krishal Sharma, told NBC Bay Area. “He was going to go to DVC, and he wanted to get drafted from there."

Detectives are requesting that witnesses or anyone who has information about this case contact Napa County Sheriff's Office Detectives and American Canyon PD.
