National Get Up Day falls on Feb. 1 annually to remind people of the importance of moving on in life come what may. The day highlights the fact that a person must collect himself, dust themselves off and get going after meeting failure.

It was on Feb. 1, 2016, that the U.S. Figure Skating started this motivational campaign to help people bounce back after their falls. The day has been celebrated every year since.

Now, skaters and people across the world celebrate the National Get Up Day by posting motivational posts, videos, and pictures on social media about a time they have fallen or struggled with something and how they overcame it and got up. The day also calls for successful individuals to share their stories as to how they dealt with setbacks and made it to the pinnacle.

The celebration acquires significance this year as the COVID-19 pandemic has left most of us filled with anxiety and powering through hurdles requires a bit of encouragement.
