National Sandwich Day Freebies 2017: Free Food, Discounts And Coupons For Restaurants

Following a sugar-filled Halloween, it’s time to switch gears and overindulge in one of America’s most favorite foods, the sandwich. Friday marks National Sandwich Day, which celebrates the invention of two slices of bread paired with some type of filling in between them.

The story of the sandwich dates back to the 1700s, according to NationalDayCalendar.com. The myth tells the tale of John Montagu, who in the book, “Tour to London,” is described as an earl who liked to eat meat and bread while gambling.

Montagu was known to request two slices of bread with meat in between them while gambling. Eventually, his pals began to order the same food option, asking for “the same as Sandwich.”

Nov. 3 is dedicated to celebrating this great invention and it just so happens that there are a bunch of deals, promotions and coupons on sandwiches offered during this special day. So, whether you’re all about the vegetable overload or you’re an assorted meats type of person, there is sure to be a freebie that will satisfy your sandwich needs.

Capriotti’s

The restaurant is celebrating National Sandwich Day by offering customers free upgrades from small (9 inch) subs to medium (12 inch) subs. The deal applies to all sandwiches ordered at participating locations.

Subway

Subway is giving their customers the chance to chow down with their buy one, get one event. Guests who head into Subway and purchase a sandwich along with a 30-ounce drink will get a free 6-inch sandwich. Customers may also be pleased to know that their purchase is helping a good deed. Subway will donate a meal to Feeding America for every sub and 30 oz. drink purchased.

Arby’s

Although this technically isn’t a special National Sandwich Day deal, it’s not one to be missed. Those who sign up to receive emails from Arby’s will get a free roast beef sandwich with the purchase of a drink.

Quizno’s

The sandwich company will be giving its customers a discount on its most popular sandwich, the 8-inch Classic Italian sub, by selling it for $5 at participating locations.

QuickChek

Customers who buy a six-inch sub will get a free six-inch sub if they download a coupon from the restaurant’s mobile app. For those who miss out on the deal on Friday, they still have a chance to receive a free sandwich if they download the app for the first time between Nov. 6 through Nov. 12.

McAlister’s Deli

Stop into to the restaurant for a sweet deal on McAlister’s Club sandwich. For $4.00, customers can nosh on thirteen layers of sharp cheddar, swiss cheese, smoked turkey, black forest ham, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, McAlister’s honey mustard and mayonnaise on sliced wheat bread.

Firehouse Subs

Early birds, this one is for you. As long as you are among the first 50 customers to order any size Hook & Ladder sub on Friday, guests will receive a custom sub enamel pin along with a free drink and chips with a medium or large sub purchase on their next visit.
