KEY POINTS

  • Ben Simmons is said to be open to joining the Kings just to get out of Philadelphia
  • Sacramento Kings won’t deal Fox and Haliburton for Simmons
  • Only the Kings and Pacers have been mentioned as potential landing spots

Ben Simmons is waiting for his next big move, but no NBA team has come close to what the Philadelphia 76ers want in exchange.

There was word that Simmons preferred to join a contending team with hopes of vying for an NBA title, but it seems the 25-year-old has relaxed his desire a bit.

According to sources cited by David Aldridge of The Athletic, the former top pick allegedly wouldn’t mind joining the Sacramento Kings.

Aldridge backs up that possibility with two standout skills that the 6-foot-11 player carries–defense and passing.

In a way, a move to Sacramento would be fit considering the Kings were a bad defensive team last season.

The take is perhaps something that would lure away detractors who have constantly lashed out at the lack of shooting prowess the three-time All-Star has.

But the next concern is whether the Kings are ready to pick the $147 million tab of the Australian cager and give up some of its assets in exchange.

There remains no official word on who the Kings could offer to the 76ers for Simmons.

The names of DeAaron Fox or Tyrese Burton have been suggested, two players that Philly allegedly discussed with Sacramento in the offseason, Sam Amick of The Athletic reported.

Unsurprisingly, the Kings were unwilling and may have to find some other players to deal away. Some names that come to mind are Buddy Hield or Marvin Bagley.

In either trade scenario, adding future picks is practically a given. The same holds for other NBA teams who may engage in trade talks for the 2018 NBA rookie of the Year.

But until something gains ground, Simmons will continue to sit out games for as long as he is tied to the Sixers.

Aside from the Kings, the Indiana Pacers were also mentioned as a possible destination.

Caris LeVert and Malcolm Brogdon reportedly drew interest from Philly. However, nothing went beyond that since it was reported a couple of days ago here on IBTimes.
