  • League executives voted Luka Doncic as their ideal franchise player under 25-years-old
  • Doncic finished fourth in this year’s MVP voting
  • The Mavericks star averaged 28.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game this season

Executives from around the league voted Luka Doncic as the ideal player under 25 years old to build around their franchise. The Dallas Mavericks star has already emerged as an MVP candidate at a young age of 21.

Based on Hoopshype’s poll, they asked 15 league executives which player they would pick as their model athlete for their team. It was Doncic who emerged as the top choice, overshadowing the game’s rising stars such as Zion Williamson and Ja Morant.

“He’s a guy who can be a lead ballhandler. He’s good enough to score and create at a high level, has the right mental makeup and is incredibly smart. He’s been a winner everywhere and will probably be a winner in the league,” one scout shared, as reported by NBC Sports.

In just his second year in the league, Doncic has already dominated the NBA as a premier playmaker. While he doesn’t have the speed or athleticism of the typical guard, he makes up for it with his vision on the court. The manner of how Doncic can find any opportunity for his teammates to score makes him an elite performer that any team would love to have.

Creating shots for himself is also one key piece in Doncic’s game that has him heralded as one of the world’s top players. Whether it’s finding an open lane inside the paint or stepping back from beyond the arc, Doncic has a trusty bag of tricks that he can use on the offensive end.

In this year’s MVP voting, Doncic ranked fourth overall in the race. Despite Giannis Antetokounmpo finishing as the clear winner, the Slovenian star remains hungry in improving his game.

“There’s a lot of things to improve on. You can’t work on just one thing, you’ve got to work on everything. But I’ll especially work on my shooting. That’s my key,” Doncic shared in a report by Sports Illustrated.

It’s expected that Doncic will continue to get better through the years. His second season ended with him averaging 28.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game.
