The first round of the 2022 NBA playoffs only featured one sweep, but there’s a chance that number could double in the second round. The Dallas Mavericks and Philadelphia 76ers both trail their respective series 2-0 and face elimination in quick fashion.

The Phoenix Suns have +230 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook to eliminate the Mavericks in four games. The Miami Heat are given +260 odds to end their series against the 76ers after two more contests.

Dallas and Philadelphia will host their respective Game 3s on Friday night.

The Mavericks were overmatched in their 129-109 Game 2 defeat in Phoenix on Wednesday. The Suns have scored more than 120 points in each game against Dallas. Chris Paul was masterful in the second half of Game 2, scoring 20 points on 9-10 shooting.

Luka Doncic is averaging 40.0 points on 54.6% shooting. The rest of the Mavericks are scoring 71.5 points on 42.9% shooting. After averaging 27.8 points in the first round against the Utah Jazz, Jalen Brunson had just 22 total points on 28 field-goal attempts in Phoenix.

"He had a great game, but no one else showed," Mavs coach Jason Kidd said of Doncic. "We've got to get other guys shooting the ball better. We can't win with just him out there scoring 30 a night -- not at this time of the year. And we're playing the best team in the league, so we've got to get other guys going."

The Suns are an overwhelming -1500 favorite to win the series. The Mavericks have +870 odds to win four of the next five games. Phoenix has +150 odds to beat Dallas in five games.

The 76ers are given a better chance to come out of their 2-0 series hole. Philadelphia has +660 odds to upset Miami in the series, which is a -1000 favorite with a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven format.

Philadelphia’s hopes of making a comeback are directly linked to Joel Embiid’s status. Embiid didn’t travel to Miami for the first two games because of a facial fracture and concussion. The Heat won both contests by at least 14 points.

"I really don't know," 76ers coach Doc Rivers told reporters Wednesday, regarding Embiid’s Game 3 availability. "We talked [Tuesday], and we talked [Wednesday]. He looked good, as far as talking. But he's got so many steps to go through, and I don't think he's cleared any of them right now. So we just have to wait and see."

Embiid also has a torn ligament in his thumb that will require offseason surgery. It remains to be seen how effective the MVP candidate might be upon his return, dealing with multiple injuries against the No. 2 defense in this postseason.

James Harden has not been able to step up in Embiid’s absence. The shooting guard is averaging 18.0 points on 39.3% shooting with 7.0 assists and 4.0 turnovers per game against Miami.

Miami center Bam Adebayo has averaged 23.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and just 10.5 field-goal attempts per game without having to go up against Embiid.

The Heat have +170 odds to win the series in five games.
