The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly interested in another top free agent who also happens to be a former Lakers star.

Indeed, what happened between the Lakers and D’Angelo Russell in the past has left everybody in the NBA world thinking that there is no way they will ever reunite again. But their history does not seem matter now as some in the LA organization are apparently interested in acquiring Russell on his free agency.

As per Arye Abraham of ESPN LA, Russell may find his way back to the Lakers this offseason as reports claimed that the team has a strong interest in Russell. Apparently, the team also plan to have a “face to face” meeting with the 2019 All-star at the beginning of free agency, according to Fadeaway World.

Since the Anthony Davis trade, the Lakers have been continuously linked to several talented backcourts such as top free agent Kemba Walker. This just goes to show that the team is really looking to add another star to join LeBron and AD, and to be specific, a guard. D’Lo seems to be a good fit for the current Lakers roster as the former no. 2 overall pick has improved into an All-star since he parted ways with LA. This also proves that after two seasons, Russell is now a perfect candidate for a backcourt position for the team and perhaps deserves a comeback.

Fox Sport’s Nick Wright also mentioned Russell during a recent episode of "First Things First." According to Wright, the Lakers could be championship contenders with the services of Russell.

Wright’s statement may have been stated a little too early, but the way Russell has played since being hastily traded to the Brooklyn Nets could make it possible.

D’Lo averaged 15.6 points per game with the Lakers during the 2016-17 season to go along with 3.5 rebounds per game and 4.8 assists per game, which happens to be his best season with the team.

But with two seasons with the Nets, Russell significantly improved from 15.5 points per game during his first season, to an impressive 21.1 points per game. Even his playmaking skills have developed well as he went from 5.2 assist per game during the first season, to 7 assists per game last season.

Neither the Lakers nor Russell has commented about the reports yet but it is quite obvious that the Lakers have been trying to recruit another star since the Davis deal.
