KEY POINTS

  • The New York Knicks are continuously trying to improve on their roster
  • They are near the bottom of the standings in the Eastern Conference
  • Former three-point champion can be a good addition to the team

The New York Knicks continue to struggle in the NBA, as they are once again seeking to bounce back from a disappointing season. Prior to the league’s suspension, the Knicks were near the bottom of the Eastern Conference. They sat at the 12th seed with a record of 21-45.

The past few years have been tough for the franchise as the team has yet to make a significant playoff run in recent memory. The closest surge they had was during the era of Carmelo Anthony as they had a 54-28 record. They were second in the East but were eliminated in the conference semifinals by the Indiana Pacers in six games.

Since then the Knicks have found it difficult to get back on the winning track. Their roster has found a series of changes. Unfortunately, they have not regained the rhythm needed to rise above back to success.

With the season coming to a close, the franchise is looking for a spark that can lead their offense. Per ESPN by way of Bleacher Report, former head coach David Fizdale shared that the team right now lacks the consistent outside threat that can help the squad. "Just looking at the roster where they're at, I love Elfrid (Payton), Frank (Ntilikina) and Dennis Smith Jr., but all of them have something in common in that they're not consistent 3-point shooters coming off the pick-and-roll,” he shared.

One player that the franchise is speculated to draw interest on is former three-point king Joe Harris of the Brooklyn Nets. Harris is a spectacular shooter who is putting up 41.2% from long distance. The former 33rd overall pick has made a name for himself as one of the smoothest shooters in the game. He gets his rhythm off the catch and shoot and has proven to be a threat from anywhere beyond the arc.

While he’s a nice addition to have for the team, the Knicks will have to be ready on a good offer for the former Virginia standout. He’s drawn interest from other teams and also has the option to stay with the Nets with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant returning next season.
