KEY POINTS

  • Trae Young has been one of the bright spots of the Atlanta Hawks' 2019-2020 season
  • His team recently acquired double-double machine Clint Capela
  • Trae Young took to Twitter to post his reaction regarding the trade

As the trade deadline comes to its final hours, the major announcements are starting to pile up. The latest 4-team deal that featured the Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets and Atlanta Hawks sparked the most discussion in the league. The roster shakeup had everyone talking including the franchise players of the involved teams.

Atlanta Hawks All-Star Trae Young found out of the development of his team much like how the rest of the world did. It was an announcement from veteran reporter Adrian Wojnarowski or fondly called a Woj Bomb that caused much ruckus online. Trae Young took to Twitter to react to the news with a gif of a sleeping child waking up to celebrate.

Wojnarowski responded by thanking the young guard for staying up for the news.

This serves as good news for the former Oklahoma Sooner. Trae Young will now have an additional offensive and defensive assistance with the acquisition of Clint Capela and Nene. Clint Capela, in particular, has served consistent minutes and numbers for the past few years.

In this season alone he has averaged close to 14 points per game to go along with 14 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per outing. He was a major piece in the Houston Rockets’ lineup but was let go with their new small-ball approach.

Clint Capela’s services can now benefit a different team. His presence inside the paint will look to boost the Atlanta Hawks’ struggles for the season. They are currently in the last place in the Eastern Conference with a 13-38 record.

The bright spot of the Atlanta Hawks’ 2019-2020 campaign is how second-year guard Trae Young has developed into the league’s best scorers. There are no signs of a sophomore slump for Trae Young as he’s averaged 29.2 points, 9 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game. He is fourth in the league in scoring and second in assists. His hot shooting, long-distance threes and improved court vision have earned him a slot in the starting lineup of the 2020 All-Star game.
