The Golden State Warriors could be planning to orchestrate a massive trade deal to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Dubs might be the worst NBA team this 2019-20 season, but just like any other championship franchise, Golden State could be cooking something that would put them back at their winning ways. Warriors have proven that they are willing to make certain changes in their roster to better the team in the future by trading for Andrew Wiggins. However, the franchise could be aiming for a bigger deal as latest buzz around the NBA states that a possible trade for the Milwaukee Bucks superstar Antetokounmpo is already on the works.

According to a recent report from Eric Pincus of the Bleacher Report, some people around the NBA believe the Warriors got a first-round draft pick and Wiggins for the sole purpose of flipping it to possibly acquire “the Greek Freak.”

“Some around the league believe the Golden State Warriors acquired a first-round pick from the Minnesota Timberwolves, along with Andrew Wiggins, with the notion of a potential future trade with the Bucks,” Pincus wrote.

Last December, Warriors were already perceived to be considering joining the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes come the former MVP’s free agency year. But according to The San Francisco Chronicle, if the Warriors finish the 2019-20 season as one of the worst teams in the league and get the no. 1 pick in next summer’s draft, they would use it as bargaining chip to land Antetokounmpo.

“It’s highly unlikely that Milwaukee would make Giannis Antetokounmpo available in a trade. But if the Bucks did, they certainly would have a big asking price. The mega-trades that sent Anthony Davis to the Lakers and Paul George to the Clippers have set the standard quite high. If the Warriors got the No. 1 pick, they’d probably need to offer Milwaukee that selection, D’Angelo Russell, Draymond Green or Klay Thompson, and another young piece or two — think Eric Paschall and Kevon Looney — just for the Bucks to take them seriously,” Connor Letourneau of The San Francisco Chronicle said.

Meanwhile, Antetokounmpo has already said he would “never” leave the Bucks to play for the Lakers, and with how well the Bucks have played over the last two years.

However, during an interview with Mackenzie Salmon of USA Today Sports , Antetokounmpo teased Lakers fans about potentially joining the “Purple and Gold.”

“ I think that would be amazing. Obviously we’d spend more time together, and I’m 100% sure my mom would love that, but if we could team up in a team — Milwaukee, L.A., whatever — that would be awesome,” Antetokounmpo said.
