Spencer Locke stars as Amberley Snyder in “Walk. Ride. Rodeo.” Netflix

There are a bunch of new movies coming to Netflix in March, but Friday’s “Walk. Ride. Rodeo.” stands out for a few different reasons.

Not only is it a Netflix Original but it also stars some recognizable faces and is based on a true story. The biopic tells the story of real-life rodeo star Amberley Snyder, played by Spencer Locke (“Insidious: The Last Key”), who must overcome great challenges to reach her pro barrel racing dreams after getting into a car accident on the way to an event and becoming paralyzed from the waist down.

Snyder was 18 when she was injured and told by doctors she’d never be able to walk again. She didn’t let that deter her from working toward her rodeo goals. She got herself back on a horse just four months after the 2010 accident.

Now, not only was the real Snyder a consultant on the film, but she was also a stunt double for the post-accident riding scenes.

As for the rest of the movie cast, aside from Locke, “Walk. Ride. Rodeo.” also stars Max Ehrich (Tate Watkins, “The Young and the Restless”), Bailey Chase (“Longmire”), Alyvia Alyn Lind (Autumn Snyder, “The Young and the Restless”), Barbara Alyn Woods (Jenna Walters, “One Tree Hill”), Corbin Bleu (“High School Musical”), Kathleen Rose Perkins (Stacy, “Episodes”), Sherri Shepherd (“Trial & Error”) and Missi Pyle (“Impulse”).

Along with starring in the flick, Ehrich also wrote a song, “Ride,” for the movie, and he did so with help from Snyder.

“I have been writing songs on the piano since I was a kid and felt so inspired by Amberley’s story that I felt a song about overcoming obstacles and soaring, was a message I felt I wanted to share,” the actor told People. “I called Amberley and she told me she wasn’t a songwriter, but I reassured her that best songs are all based on personal experience. I love how open she was to the idea and she is truly one of the most remarkably kind, intelligent and positive people I know.”

Watch Amberley Snyder’s true story get the biopic treatment when “Walk. Ride. Rodeo.” comes out on Netflix on Friday.
