NetGear on Monday introduced its new first line of Gigabit Smart Switches that delivers high performance, easy management and scalability, according to the company.

Its new ProSafe GS724TPS and GS748TPS features Power over Ethernet (PoE) capabilities, Gigabit connectivity and stacking such as Auto Voice VLAN. It has four ports on each switch which support PoE+, IEEE’s 802.3 at draft standard, multi-channel wireless access points, pan-tilt-zoomed IP cameras, and touch-screen IP phones.

Our ProSafe GS7xxTPS Series of Advanced Gigabit Smart Switches meets these requirements to support key applications such as VoIP-based call centers, branch or remote offices and organizations with unified wireless and wireline networks.”

It has two dedicated HDMI ports delivering up to 20G bps of bandwidth on each switch, can stack up to 6 switches or 288 ports together and manage them with a single IP address and include redundant and hot-swappable features.

The device also bundles a complete suite of advanced features such as access control lists (ACL), 802.1x port authentication, enhanced QoS, rate limiting and IGMP snooping, among others, to provide SMBs with more robust security, higher quality of service and high availability.

Its new line of switches pricing for the GS724TPS starts at $899.99 and $1,699.99 for the GS748TPS, which has twice as much capacity.
