Apple is heavily pegged to release a new edition of the 12-inch MacBook to succeed last year’s 12-inch MacBook. Its release seems imminent as Best Buy has discontinued the sales of last year’s model.

All the variants of 12-inch MacBook from 2015 are “sold out” on the retailer's site. Moreover, each product page of the MacBook variants states that “this item is no longer available.” According to Apple Insider, Best Buy only uses such words when it halts the sales of existing generation devices for a temporary period or when it is going to add refreshed models.

Some of the other retailers have limited models of the 2015 12-inch MacBook for purchase. Currently, MacMall is only selling four variants of MacBook whereas the other eight models are no longer available.

Mac Rumors has reported that in the previous month a 12-inch “MacBook (Early 2016)” was found mentioned on the list of supported devices of the “System Image Utility” application of OS X. The California company is known to use “early” model identifier when it aims to announce a product in the first four months of the year. It uses “mid” model identifier when it is going to launch a product in May or later.

Since Best Buy and other retailers have either stopped the sales or are offering limited variants of the 12-inch MacBook 2015, rumors are suggesting that the refreshed model will be launched before the end of this month.

The 12-inch MacBook was released on April 10 in the previous year. Since it has been more than a year after its arrival, there is a possibility that Apple may announce a successor model very soon. It is expected to be powered by Intel Skylake processors such as Core M3-6Y30, Core M5-6Y54 and Core M7-6Y75. Apple is also rumored to release 11-inch and 13-inch models of MacBook Pro 2016 by June.
