Germany, the United Kingdom, and Italy have all discovered cases of the new Omicron variant of Covid-19 on Saturday.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson declared new protocols to better control the spread.

“We will require anyone who enters the UK to take a PCR test by the end of the second day after their arrival and to self-isolate until they have a negative result,” Johnson said.

British health minister Sajid Javid said that the two cases connected to the new variant were associated with travel from South Africa.

Two cases were also found in Germany, and at least one in Italy.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States said Friday that no cases of the new omicron Covid variant "have been identified in the U.S. to date.” Furthermore, starting Monday, President Joe Biden said Friday that the U.S. will prohibit admission to most travelers from eight countries in Southern Africa.
