KEY POINTS

  • "New World" is an open-world MMORPG with an emphasis on PvP and faction-based warfare
  • New players will have to go through a short tutorial before they can freely explore the world
  • Crafting is an important part of "New World" that should not be ignored

There are plenty of things to do in “New World” and players have a lot to look forward to during their stay in Aeternum. As with many other MMOs, beginners will have to go through several early game hurdles before they can participate in more exciting activities and this can take some time.

For those who want to get up to speed as quickly as possible to join the ongoing territory wars or start raiding “New World’s” numerous Expeditions, here are some tips and tricks on how to get the best start possible.

Picking Factions

Factions provide a number of perks to those who join them. Players will get access to faction-specific gear, territory-related bonuses and faction quests to help with XP and gold grinding. However, the most important factor to consider when picking a faction is whether or not players want to group up with friends for PvP activities.

Players won’t be able to team up with friends if they end up on opposing factions. However, they will still be able to delve down dungeons together regardless of their allegiance.

Upgrade Tools

Crafting lies at the heart of “New World’s” progression and economy. As such, players will want to craft as many items as possible to maximize XP gains through trade skills and gold income via trading. This also means that players will have to do plenty of resource gathering, which is where tools come in.

Players must have specialized tools in order to gather resources. Basic flint tools can be crafted in campfires, but these are extremely inefficient. Consider upgrading to Iron Tools as quickly as possible to make resource gathering faster.

Tools can be crafted at Workshops in towns or bought from Trading Posts.

Damage Types

Weapons deal different types of damage that may or may not be effective against certain enemies. For example, Axes deal Slash damage while Hammers deal Blunt damage. Some enemies, like the variations of undead found along farms and roads, resist Pierce damage from ranged weapons and spears but are vulnerable against Blunt damage.

Take this into consideration when picking weapons. It may also be more efficient to bring two weapon types that have different damage types to allow for more versatility in combat.

Questing And Progression

Players are free to do whatever they want in “New World” but questing shouldn’t be neglected, especially in the early game. Not only will they provide XP and money, but some quests will also reward players with free items.

Quests also reward significantly more XP than just slaying monsters or crafting items, making this a very efficient way of leveling up quickly.
