  • Rumors have it that Sony will have another State of Play
  • The supposed Sony State of Play could reportedly happen in August
  • Sony has not yet confirmed that it would hold another online event next month

A massive leak about the next Sony State of Play has surfaced recently. It has revealed the event's schedule and featured announcements, which reportedly include the launch of the next-gen PSVR and updates on its upcoming major titles like "God Of War: Ragnarok" and "Horizon Forbidden West."

The latest set of information came from business analyst and industry insider Roberto Serrano. Previously, the insider said, "Next PlayStation event should come in August, before the Gamescom 2021, most likely in the first half of next month." However, he shared specific details of the event just recently.

According to the insider, the next Sony State of Play for this year is scheduled for August 12. The online event would reportedly start at 2 p.m. PT (5 p.m. ET or 11 p.m. CEST). Interestingly, Serrano also claimed that Sony would announce its next-generation PSVR in the upcoming virtual event.

Moreover, fans of the next "God of War" series installment as well as "Horizon Forbidden West" would get new updates about their favorite upcoming titles at the event, the insider added.

The Japanese tech and gaming juggernaut has not yet confirmed that it would hold another State of Play this summer. However, in its previous blog post, Sony seemed to be teasing that it would drop major announcements very soon.

During the July State of Play announcement, Sony told fans not to expect any news about its next-generation PSVR or on the sequels of "Horizon" and "God of War." It noted, "This showcase will not include updates on the next God of War, Horizon Forbidden West or the next generation of PlayStation VR."

Interestingly, in the latter part of the same post, Sony asked fans to look out for updates this summer. "Stay tuned throughout the summer though, as we’ll have more updates soon," it said.

Since Sony has not yet confirmed that it would have another State of Play next month, fans should manage their expectations about this latest leak. In the absence of an official announcement from the company, this latest set of information should be taken with a grain of salt.
