Week 1 of the 2014 NFL Season begins on Thursday night when the Green Bay Packers visit the defending champion Seattle Seahawks. Most of the week’s action will take place on Sunday, and every NFL team is on the schedule.

The Seahawks are expected to begin the defense of their Super Bowl with a victory, but they are not the biggest favorites in Week 1. The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to have the easiest time in their 2014 season opener, as they are giving the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars 10 points. The Eagles are the only double-digit favorites, going up against a team that has won 11 total games in the last three years.

Many of the betting lines are small because teams haven’t played any meaningful games. Ten of the 16 games feature a point spread between three and five points. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the smallest favorites in Week One, giving the Carolina Panthers just one point. In 2013, the Panthers won the NFC South, finishing eight games ahead of the Bucs.

According to the betting odds, only three road teams are expected to leave Week One with a victory. The New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers have all been made favorites, playing away from their home stadiums. Last year, those teams combined to total a 35-13 record.

Peyton Manning returns from his historical regular season to take on his former team on Sunday night. The Denver Broncos are favored by more than a touchdown over the Indianapolis Colts, Manning's former team. The contest features the week’s highest over/under, one year after the Broncos set a record by averaging 37.9 points per game.

Two Monday night games will open the season. Both the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals are expected to win. The New York Giants are five-point underdogs, despite going 5-0 in the preseason.
