Jadeveon Clowney entered free agency as the top edge rusher on the market. The veteran remains unsigned even after the 2020 NFL Draft, and that might not change for quite a while.

According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, Clowney has rejected multiple offers from both the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans. Neither team appears interested in offering the defensive end more money in the foreseeable future.

Clowney was reportedly seeking between $20 and $21 million per season at the start of free agency in mid-March. He’s reportedly dropped his asking price to around $17.5 million a year and isn’t ready to go any lower.

DeMarcus Lawrence is the NFL’s highest-paid defensive end. The Dallas Cowboys gave him a $105 million contract worth $21 million a year in April 2019.

Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive end Frank Clark is second with an average yearly salary of $20.8 million. Detroit Lions’ defensive end Trey Flowers is third at $18 million. Five other edge rushers make at least $17 million a year.

Clowney didn’t do himself any favors in his contract year, recording just three sacks in 13 games. The Seahawks traded two players and a third-round pick for Clowney just prior to the start of the 2019 season.

Clowney was selected to the Pro Bowl each year from 2016-2018 with the Houston Texans. The former No.1 overall pick totaled 18.5 sacks and six fumble recoveries in his final two seasons in Houston.

The Indianapolis Colts have also been considered a potential Clowney suitor.
