Tom Brady doesn’t appear to be satisfied with just one championship as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The quarterback wants the team to improve its roster even more as he eyes a contract extension.

There is momentum building toward Brady and Tampa Bay agreeing on a deal that would keep the seven-time Super Bowl champion with the Bucs beyond 2021, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. Brady’s current contract expires at the end of next season.

Schefter noted that Brady might want Tampa Bay to trade for Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., though it would be difficult for the Buccaneers to make such a move work under the salary cap.

Last month on “Get Up,” ESPN’s Jeff Darlington suggested that a deal sending Beckham to Tampa Bay could make sense because of the relationship between the two stars.

Beckham has found himself in trade rumors on numerous occasions over the past few years. In 2019, the receiver said playing with Brady was “always a dream of mine.”

The Browns excelled in the 2020 NFL season after Beckham was lost for the season with a torn ACL. Baker Mayfield performed better without Beckham, and the Browns won their first playoff game in 26 years.

Beckham has a $15.75 million cap hit next season. He’s signed through the 2023 season.

The Buccaneers are focused on keeping their receiving corps together. Chris Godwin is expected to be retained with the franchise tag. Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski are unsigned and headed for free agency.

Brady won his fifth Super Bowl MVP award in his first season with Tampa Bay last month. The 43-year-old makes the Bucs one of the favorites to win next year’s title.
