  • Lewandowski is contracted with Bayern Munich until 2023
  • Kylian Mbappe is tipped to leave PSG soon
  • He is linked with a move to Real Madrid

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) could reportedly sign Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski as Kylian Mbappe's replacement.

Lewandowski's agent Pini Zahavi was in Paris and held a meeting with PSG Tuesday regarding a potential transfer of his client to Parc des Princes, according to French media outlet Onze Mondial.

Lewandowski, who has been scoring goals for fun over the last couple of years, has been on the radar of quite a few clubs this summer. In the 2020-21 campaign, the 33-year-old forward netted a total of 48 goals for Bayern Munich, across all competitions, 33 more than second-placed Thomas Muller. The 2019-20 season was even better for Lewandowski as the legendary forward had finished with 55 goals and 10 assists in 47 competitive appearances.

The Polish star was earlier linked with Chelsea, who were looking for an alternative to Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland. However, the Stamford Bridge eventually signed Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan.

In the 2021-22 season, Lewandowski has already scored four times for Bayern Munich in just three competitive appearances. It is believed that the talented playmaker, who has two years left on his Bayern contract, is looking for a new challenge and a league trophy in another country. If PSG manage to secure Lewandowski, he would form a lethal attack with Messi and Neymar.

Mbappe, who has just one year left on his current deal with PSG, has rejected an extension and is tipped to leave the club either this summer or in 2022. The Ligue 1 side are believed to have begun to prepare for life post-Mbappe, who has so far turned down six new deals from the French club. The latest offer had a substantial salary increase that would have made the Frenchman the third-highest paid in the squad after Lionel Messi and Neymar.

While PSG do not want to lose Mbappe for free next summer, they have rejected Real Madrid's opening bid of $188 million with just one week left in the underway summer window, according to The Athletic.

Apart from Lewandowski, PSG have been linked with Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo and Everton forward Richarlison as a replacement for Mbappe.

It has been reported that Juventus want to get rid of Ronaldo from their wage structure because of his huge salary as he is still one of the highest-paid players in Europe with a weekly pay of around $1.05 million. Juventus have set an asking price of less than $41million for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
