Novak Djokovic’s net worth is $220 million. He is set to add more to that number after earning $44.6 million this year, but things took a unique turn for him in recent days.

It has been reported that Djokovic tested positive for COVID-19. This development came after the tennis star claimed he does not support vaccinations for the coronavirus. What makes things worse is that he recently took part in an exhibition tournament organized for Serbia and Croatia. Now, a lot of questions loom after three other players in the tournament also tested positive.

Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric and Viktor Troicki and his wife all tested positive for COVID-19. Jelena Ristic, the wife of Djokovic, was confirmed to have the disease too. The tour name drew flak because of safety concerns amid the pandemic, but the tennis number one player said he pushed it through because of philanthropy, Forbes reported.

There are still questions about how many people contracted the virus as a video surfaced recently that allegedly involved the players partying at an unknown nightclub during the tournament.

Djokovic, also known as “Nole,” holds several records under his name. He is the only player in history to win four major titles on three surfaces. Nole is also the only player to sweep all the Masters 1000 Tournaments. Experts are saying Djokovic could be the best player ever to play the game of tennis when all is said and done, considering the number of tournaments he’s won. If injuries had not hampered his performance or prevented him from competing, his trophy case at home would be full by this time.

The Belgrade, Serbia native holds the distinction as the tennis player with the highest career earnings with $144 million and counting. Rival Roger Federer is second on the list with $129 million in career earnings.

Winning a lot also means endorsements and lucrative partnerships. The Serbian represented Uniqlo in the past, but changed to Lacoste in 2017. According to FOX Business, the deal pays him $9.4 million annually. Other brands who chose him as their ambassador are Head, NetJets, Seiko watches, Jacob’s Creek and Peugeot, among others.

Djokovic married his high school friend Ristic in 2014. The couple has two children together, who fortunately tested negative for COVID-19. Although the top tennis player in the world has reservations about COVID-19 vaccinations, he and his wife pledged one million euros to help Serbia fight the pandemic.
