  • Nvidia is reportedly working on a new SKU that could challenge the AMD Radeon RX6800 XL
  • This is reportedly Nvidia’s emergency product
  • The alleged upcoming graphics card could be the rumored Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti

Nvidia is working on a new SKU based on the GA102 GPU, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, that would fall in between GeForce RTX 3070 and GeForce RTX 3080 and would compete against the AMD flagship GPU Radeon RX 6800 XL, according to a new leak.

The new information about the alleged plan of Nvidia came from industry insider Kopite7kimi. The leaker claimed that it is an emergency product of the company for the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XL. While the tipster did not specifically mention any name, fans and industry watchers believe that the new product could be the long-rumored GeForce RTX 3070 Ti or Super.

Additionally, the tipster revealed that the upcoming product features 7424 cores. Essentially, in terms of performance, this could mean that the alleged Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti could be in between the flagship RTX 3080 and the RTX 3090. It has 9% lesser CUDA cores than the RTX 3080 and 26% more than the RTX 3070.

The rumored Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti reportedly comes with a 10 GB GDDR6X memory, currently found on the company’s flagship graphics cards. Apparently, it sports a 320-bit memory bus that runs on 19 GB per second. It is an improvement from the 8 GB GDDR6 on the standard-issue GeForce RTX 3070, which has a 256-bit memory bus and runs at 14GB per second.

The leak also revealed that the upcoming Nvidia graphics card features a TGP of 320 watts, equivalent to that of the GeForce RTX 3080. The rumored Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti could be the reason behind the recent cancellation of the RTX 3070 16 GB, which uses the less powerful GA104 GPU and slower 16 GB GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus.

It is important to note that the latest details about the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti while interesting are not official. AMD is scheduled to launch the Radeon RX 6000 series including the Big Navi flagship Radeon RX 6800 XL on Oct. 28. Gamers and tech enthusiasts look forward that the chipmaker would provide extensive benchmark numbers, stocks availability and pricing for the GPU series at the said event.
