After attempting to have a child for seven years, Manhattanite Michal Lura Friedman finally became pregnant with fraternal twins nine months ago, only to die shortly after they were born, the Daily News reported.

Friedman, 44, and her husband Jay Snyder were elated, Snyder told the News, when Friedman gave birth to a 6-pound girl and 7-pound boy, both in good health just before 5 p.m. on Nov. 25. But 4 1/2 hours later Friedman unexpectedly passed away, the News reported.

One of the many things that is despicable about this is that she didn't really even get a chance to hold her kids, Snyder told the News. They held up the babies to her, she saw them and smiled at me, but she was kind of out of it from the drugs. She wanted to be a mother more than anything else in the world.

There was no indication that Friedman, who went by the nickname Michal the Girl was headed for such a sad demise, the News reported, but bleeding after the delivery of the babies led to her tragic death at NYU Langone Medical Center.
