The Cleveland Browns have agreed to release Odell Beckham Jr., as first reported by Yahoo Sports. Considered one of the league’s top playmakers only a short time ago, Beckham could potentially have a significant impact on another team’s Super Bowl chances.

The Browns and Beckham are working on terms of the wide receiver’s release. Cleveland will reportedly convert Beckham’s base salary into a signing bonus, which will make it easier for teams to claim him. Beckham can’t become an outright free agent until he clears waivers, where a team can pick up the receiver if they have enough room under the salary cap.

That would greatly increase the number of potential landing spots for Beckham, since only nine teams can afford his $8.05 million salary.

What is Beckham’s most likely next team? The betting odds suggest the Las Vegas Raiders have the best chance of signing the 29-year-old.

Las Vegas just lost its No. 1 receiver because of Henry Ruggs’ DUI arrest. The Raiders released Ruggs, who leads the team with 469 yards in the 2021 season. With a 5-2 record, Las Vegas might be a legitimate contender, and adding Beckham to the mix could improve the team’s chances of winning the AFC West.

The Raiders are given 7/2 odds to acquire Beckham, according to odds at BetOnline. The Baltimore Ravens are second with 4/1 odds.

Baltimore leads the AFC North and is viewed as one of the best teams in the conference. The Ravens could use more depth at wide receiver. Beckham would arguably become the best weapon Lamar Jackson has had during his tenure as Baltimore’s starting quarterback.

The New Orleans Saints could absolutely use an impact receiver, following the news that Michael Thomas won’t play this season because of an ankle injury. Marquez Callaway leads all Saints’ receivers with 284 yards, and starting quarterback Jameis Winston just suffered a season-ending injury. New Orleans is third with 9/2 odds to sign Beckham.

The Buffalo Bills (5/1), New England Patriots (5/1), Indianapolis Colts (8/1) and Tennessee Titans (8/1) are considered potential players for Beckham.
