A one-year-old was left alone on a train in Manhattan on Tuesday after a family friend who was looking after him ended up feeling unwell during their outing. The two were headed downtown on the 1 train from the Upper West Side before the man ended up having a “medical episode” but there are no further details.

The baby ended up staying on the train and riding to Penn Station on 34th Street after they got on at 96th street, riding over 60 blocks, according to NBC Bay Area. The child was found by Penn Station police and was later reunited with his family. Fortunately, this story has a happy ending, as the baby was deemed to be fine.

The 38-year-old caretaker is also doing well now. The man was released without charges after being questioned by police. According to Fox, it took the adult 20 minutes to notify transit police officers about what took place.

Commuters expressed their concern about the incident with one person telling NBC Bay Area, "I would freak out in that predicament: 'Where's my kid, what happened?' Anyone comes on the train and you don't know what their intentions are."

Unfortunately, this is not the first time a baby has been left alone on a train. A man left his baby in his carriage in Cleveland, Ohio, earlier this year to smoke a cigarette. After the transport they were on left, the man had to chase down the train. The child was reunited with the family at the next station.
