OnePlus is slowly but surely rolling out a new software update for its OnePlus 3T handset. The update is found to bring new features that improve the user experience and fix certain issues found in the previous OxygenOS 4.0 version.

On Wednesday, Android Headlines reported that OnePlus is having an incremental release of a new software update for its well-received OnePlus 3 upgraded model. The update is said to be rolling out in small batches, so the Chinese phone maker can address issues found by the first people to have access to it prior to releasing it to major markets. This also gives the company a chance to cancel the software update should major problems surface along the way.

OxygenOS 4.0.2 is a continuation of the Android 7.0 Nougat-based OxygenOS 4.0 software for OnePlus phones. Therefore, it is not surprising that the new software version comes with features that are already present in the major Android OS update. It is also void of features present in Android 7.1.

When it comes to new features, OxygenOS 4.0.2 improves the Notifications system and adds the ability to directly reply to messages. Users can already make changes to the Status Bar Icons with this update. The Settings screen and menu have also been modified. There is now the option to switch to a custom DPI setting, allowing users to change the overall look and feel of the OnePlus 3T.

APN settings for select carriers have also been updated. OnePlus has yet to give the full list of carriers involved in this change. OxygenOS 4.0.2 also brings multi-window view mode to the 3T and improves power management options. System stability is reportedly enhanced and the download bug affecting the Google Play Store is crushed by this update, according to GSM Arena.

Other changes that the new software update brings include the new Notifications design, improved shelf customization and the fix for the proximity sensor bug that’s disrupting calls. OnePlus noted on its forums page that WiFi connectivity may still be unstable with this update. For users who will experience this problem, they are advised to report the issue to the company right away.

Aside from the OnePlus 3T, the OnePlus 3 is also getting the OxygenOS 4.0.2 treatment. Based on the separate blog post for the software update for the OnePlus 3, the same changes are expected to come to the flagship device. In addition, the release of the update for the OnePlus 3 is also incremental.
