KEY POINTS

  • It features a near-bezel-less design
  • Oppo's latest handset runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC
  • Find X3 Pro will cost approximately $1,500

After a series of leaks, Oppo unveiled the Find X3 Pro model Thursday, which comes up with amazing front and back cameras.

The Chinese smartphone maker recently announced its revolutionary wireless technology and X 2021 rollable smartphone concept at the MWC Shanghai event. But those features are still in the concept stages and will not be available in the new model.

Oppo's first-generation flagship model debuted with virtually no bezels, courtesy of a slide-up mechanism for its selfie camera. The second entry had no fancy functionalities except for the higher screen refresh rate at 120 Hz. The latest Find X3 Pro touts a premium construction with some unique features.

The latest launch is part of the company's attempts to expand its footprint in the global smartphone market. In January, it managed to climb up the rankings to surpass its rival Huawei to become the top smartphone vendor in China. Huawei suffered a setback due to the ongoing trade sanctions imposed on the company by the United States.

The Oppo Find X3 Pro will cost approximately $1,500 when it hit stores later this month.

Oppo Find X3 profile

From an aesthetic standpoint, the front of the Find X3 Pro bears a resemblance to the Find X2 Pro. Due to the curvature of the display, it gives the illusion of a near-bezel-less design. A single hole-punch cutout is visible on the top left corner of the screen.

There is a thin notch on the upper section where the display panel meets the frame. It is for the earpiece and the one on the bottom is for a stereo audio output.

It has an aluminum frame, with the power button set on the right flank and the volume rockers on the left side. The top portion is barren except for the secondary microphone pinhole, while the bottom holds the SIM tray, a microphone pinhole, a USB-C data/charging port, and a speaker grill.

For the Gloss Black colorway, the glass on the rear cover is reflective. The Blue option receives an anti-glare treatment that emulates a matte finish, according to the Find X3 Pro's product page.

The vertically arranged rectangular camera strip of Find X2 Pro is now replaced by a chunky bump on the upper left corner. Oppo fashioned the imaging module in a way that seems like the glass has seamlessly stretch to accommodate the hardware.

Camera features

Aside from its odd presentation, the Oppo Find X3 Pro uses two Sony IMX 766 sensors: A 50-megapixel f/1.8 (wide-angle) and a 50-megapixel f/2.2 (ultra-wide-angle). It has a 13-megapixel f/2.4 (telephoto) lens that supports 5x hybrid zoom and up to 20x digital zoom.

The latest Oppo model also has a 3-megapixel f/3.0 (Microlens) that goes beyond what regular macro lenses can do. The up to 60x magnification technology lets users take extremely close-up shots or videos. It is reportedly the first time a commercial smartphone is providing the option.

For the front-facing camera, the Oppo Find X3 Pro features a 32-megapixel f/2.4 5P lens.

Other specifications

Oppo's latest handset runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM. Its internal storage is listed as a UFS 3.1 256 GB ROM and it no longer supports memory expansion.

The screen is a 6.7-inch 3216 x 1440 (QHD+) LTPO-AMOLED with a 120 HZ refresh rate and 240 Hz touch sampling rate. Similar to the recently announced Asus ROG Phone 5, it has a 2,200 mAh and 2,250 mAh battery.

Combined, the two units within the Oppo Find X3 Pro can deliver approximately 4,500 mAh and support 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 flash charging technology. Up to 30W fast wireless charging option is also available, with support for reverse wireless charging at 10W.
