Oprah Winfrey is an advocate of self-acceptance, but she, too, has limits when it comes to accepting herself.

“You look at yourself and you accept yourself for who you are, and once you accept yourself for who you are you become a better person,” Winfrey, 63, said. However, in a recent interview with The New York Times, the media mogul got candid about weight loss and health and revealed something that she couldn’t accept about herself.

“This whole P.C. about accepting yourself as you are -- you should, 100 percent,” Winfrey said. “[But] for your heart to pump, pump, pump, pump, it needs the least amount of weight possible to do that. So all of the people who are saying, ‘Oh, I need to accept myself as I am’ -- I can’t accept myself if I’m over 200 pounds because it’s too much work on my heart. It causes high blood pressure for me. It puts me at risk for diabetes because I have diabetes in my family.”

Winfrey is a symbol of success, but her biggest challenge was weight loss. In the summer of 2015, she was determined to lose 20 lbs. Unfortunately, she got injured and laid up for a month while eating jalapeño bagels, which led her to gain 17 lbs. more. She realized that she had eating problems. The celebrity was able to resolve her weight issues when she joined Weight Watchers. After only 17 months on the program, Winfrey lost 42.5 lbs. and was down to a size 12, People reported.

Winfrey considered Weight Watchers as a lifestyle and planned to stick to it. “I don’t feel like I’m on a diet that I’m ever going to go off of again,” she said during a call for Weight Watchers members. “I feel like I’ll be counting points for the rest of my life.”

When asked for a certain event when the program empowered her, Winfrey recalled an incident when she attended a graduation. There were fried catfish, fried chicken, and macaroni and cheese, but she only took a little bit. “It was a decision that I was going to not use this food as a way to reward myself,” she explained.
