Alicia Witt, who has had multiple songs of hers included on the soundtracks for past Hallmark movies, is bringing music to the forefront for her newest holiday flick, “Our Christmas Love Song.”

Premiering Sunday night on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, the 2019 Miracles of Christmas movie also stars Hallmark first-timer Brendan Hines (“Lie to Me,” “The Tick”). While speaking with International Business Times at Christmas Con 2019 in New Jersey earlier this month, Witt shared more about her co-star and the music in the film.

“[Hines is] awesome. A lot of people don’t know who he is yet, but I think when you see his face you’ll recognize him,” she told IBT. “He’s fantastic. And he’s also a singer-songwriter in real life and very good at it.”

Witt will sing a solo song, “Heart of Christmas,” in the movie, as well as a duet of another new song, this one called “Christmas, I Miss You,” with Hines. With both actors being real-life singers, as well, Witt revealed that the two of them would often jam out together on set. She also showed Hines the ropes of what it was like doing a Hallmark movie since she’s been in quite a few and this was his first time.

“There were things that he wasn’t familiar with, in terms of how quick our schedule is, and sort of what to expect, but I would say that we were blessed on this one with having the easiest production we’ve maybe ever had,” the actress said.

In the film, which was directed by Gary Yates and written by Julie Sherman Wolfe, Witt plays an artist living in Nashville, just like the actress in real life does.

“Immediately after debuting her new song ‘Heart of Christmas’ at the legendary Grand Ole Opry, rising Country Music star Melody Jones (Witt) is accused of plagiarism and returns to her all-American hometown for the holidays in search of solace as well as the original song lyrics that will prove she wrote the song,” the synopsis shares of the new Hallmark movie. “Back in Madison, Indiana, Melody celebrates all the Christmas traditions she grew up with and rediscovers the importance of home, family, and Chase Mattson (Hines), the special duet partner who she never stopped loving.”

The cast also includes Andrea del Campo (Jillian), Anna Anderson Epp (Lucy), Lori Hallier (Anne), Brandi Alexander (Piper) and Ava Darrach-Gagnon (Dot).

“Our Christmas Love Song” premieres on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on Sunday at 9 p.m. EST.
