Floyd Mayweather Jr. might have thrown in the first punch, but it was Manny Pacquiao that delivered the blow during a recent social media spat. The two future boxing hall-of-famers are currently embroiled in an online war of words initiated by the undefeated American boxer.

Mayweather Jr. started the feud by posting a rant on the social messaging app. The former undisputed welterweight champion hit the Filipino icon for allegedly riding on his legacy.

Floyd said that Manny's entire career had been associated with his "name." Adding that "it’s about time you all stop using my brand for clout chasing and clickbait." The former fighter from Grand Rapids, Michigan ended his post by saying that Pacquiao should let his "name hold the weight of its own."

The fighting senator who arrived on Tuesday local Philippine time hit back by posting on his answer on Twitter. Manny said that the American fighter went to his match and used my "name in a post." He then said that if "you want to be relevant again #MayPac2."

Floyd then answered back with a series of photos showing him landing punches on the Filipino fighter's face. The posts generated more than five-thousand likes and were retweeted for at least two thousand times.

Fans of both boxing legends ignited their own social media war by proving and posting memes of which fighter is better. A user posted a meme showing Pacquiao connecting a straight to Floyd's face.

Another meme showed a superimposed face of the American boxer running around the ring. A Mayweather fan meanwhile tweeted stats showing that his man threw more punches than the Filipino fighter.

Others replied that "Manny's legacy is greater than Floyd," while others think that it's another gimmick to draw attention for a possible rematch.

Just hours ago, Manny posted another jab for the American boxer. This time, the new WBA "Super" welterweight champion uploaded a picture of a shocked Mayweather Jr. The post included a message that said, "Excuse me, Floyd, your name has not been on any of my PBC contracts."

He added that if Floyd wants one, Manny will have one drawn up and sent to you. #CounterfeitMoney." As of now, the American boxer has not replied to his rival's latest tirades.
