Bong Joon-Ho’s South Korean black comedy “Parasite” has added one more accolade to its briefcase by winning the Best Picture trophy at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) awards.

According to the organization, the movie took home two trophies, including Best Asian Film during the ceremony. The movie has also won the prestigious Golden Globe for the Best Foreign-Language Film. The movie has now won over 60 international awards and is poised to win more as the award season progresses.

The film beat the likes of “The Irishman,” “Joker,” “The King,” and “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.”

Meanwhile, it was Quentin Tarantino who won the Best Director award for “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” and Brad Pitt was given the Best Supporting Actor trophy for the same movie. Pitt is also the recipient of the same award at the 2020 Golden Globes. Australian actress Margot Robbie won the same award in the female category for her stellar work in “Bombshell.”

Robbie faced really stiff competition from the likes of Nicole Kidman, Florence Pugh and Toni Collette.

In the main lead categories, Saoirse Ronan won the Best Actress award for Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women.” This is Ronan’s third trophy in that particular category this year. She is also nominated for Best Actress at the 2020 Critics’ Choice Awards.

Adam Driver was adjudged the Best Actor for his portrayal of Charlie Barber in Noah Baumbach’s “Marriage Story.” First-time AACTA nominee Taika Waititi received the Award for Best Screenplay for the World War II satire “Jojo Rabbit.”

On the other hand, Martin Scorsese’s crime epic “The Irishman” was completely shut out of the awards. The movie led the nominations with six nods but could not win a single trophy.
