After creating history by garnering six nominations at the Academy Awards, Bong Joon Ho’s blockbuster hit “Parasite” continues to create waves all around the world. The movie was named Best Picture at the recently held London Film Critics Circle Awards (LFCCA).

Apart from that award, Joon-Ho received the Best Director trophy at the star-studded ceremony and made the Oscars race even more interesting. The movie recently created history by winning the prestigious Screen Actors Guild (SAG) award for Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture. It became the first-ever foreign-language film to win the prestigious trophy in the history of SAG awards.

With over 100 international awards in its briefcase, the movie entered the history books by becoming the only sixth movie to be nominated for Best Picture and Best Foreign-Language Film on the same night.

The leading actor categories were dominated by Joaquin Phoenix and Renee Zellweger. This is Phoenix’s fourth major award after winning a Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice, and a Screen Actors Guild Award for the movie “Joker.”

The star is considered to be a frontrunner at the Academy Awards, which will take place next month in Los Angeles.

He will be running for the trophy with the likes of Jonathan Pryce, Leonardo DiCaprio, Adam Driver and Antonio Banderas.

On the other hand, Zellweger is also a top contender for the Best Actress accolade at the Oscars. Zellweger emerged victorious in the same category at the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice and Screen Actors Guild awards for “Judy.”
