KEY POINTS

  • Sony might announce new roster of PlayStation Plus free games in a few days
  • The titles may be available for download from Sept. 7 to Oct. 5
  • Those who haven't yet downloaded free games for August still have some days left

The supposed list of PlayStation Plus free games that would be given away in September has been leaked online ahead of its official announcement.

The leak came from Dealabs, a French forum known for providing information about PlayStation Plus free games early. According to the site, fans can expect "Overcooked! All You Can Eat," "Predator Hunting Grounds" and "Hitman 2" to be given for free on PlayStation Plus in September. The leak also debunked earlier rumors claiming the lineup would include "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2" as well as "Jett: The Far Shore."

Moreover, the site claimed that proof of the leak has already been verified by moderators.

Based on Sony's announcement pattern, the new set of PlayStation Plus free games for September could be revealed in the next few days. The company will likely make the titles available for download from Sept. 7 to Oct. 5.

It can be recalled that in July, the lineup of PlayStation Plus free games for August was also leaked. However, it was inadvertently revealed by the PlayStation website itself prior to the official announcement date.

The leaked games included "Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville (PlayStation 4), "Hunter's Arena: Legends (PS5 only) and "Tennis World Tour 2" (PS4), which have been free for download since Aug. 3. Those who have not yet secured their copies of these games still have a few days to do so.

The supposed list of free games for September may be interesting, but it's worth noting that there is no way to verify the legitimacy of the lineup. In the absence of an official announcement from Sony, fans should temper their expectations and take the list with a grain of salt.

Earlier this month, there were reports claiming that the number of PlayStation Plus subscribers and monthly users have significantly dropped. Sony already reacted to the news, saying it is not concerned about the supposed decline.

Amid the reports, the Japanese gaming giant has also been rumored to be preparing for the launch of a new, higher-tier PS Plus subscription following its acquisition of Crunchyroll. However, the company is yet to comment on the matter.
