A plumber was sentenced to three and a half years in prison after beating his girlfriend into a pulp while celebrating her birthday.

38-year-old Ronnie Gaunt's intention was, at first, innocent. He booked a room at the Hilton Hotel to spend a lavish weekend with his now ex-girlfriend, Lea Walters as one of the many presents that he prepared for her birthday.

According to the Daily Mail, Gaunt even took the 28-year-old celebrant out to dinner at Menagerie and bought her a bunch of presents. The couple decided to grab a drink at the Deansgate Locks complex, apparently to cap off the memorable night.

But Gaunt had other ideas as he went on a “drink-and-drug-fueled” rage after snorting cocaine during their date. Back at their hotel, Gaunt, a father-of-five, claimed that other guests of the establishment were discriminating him “because he was white.”

With alcohol, drugs and rage filling his entire system, Gaunt decided to channel his anger to Walters when “she told him she was leaving.”

The Sun, who also reported about the incident, said that Gaunt grabbed Walters by the neck with both hands and shouted, “you're not going anywhere, you slag.” After a brief struggle, Walters tried to flee but was chased by his deranged lover.

Gaunt managed to grab a clump of Walters' hair and kicked and punched the defenseless woman in the face and head.

Mercilessly, Gaunt beat Walters for 15 minutes.

One of the hotel's guests, who obviously heard the commotion, tried to intervene, but Gaunt told him to “f—ck off” before fleeing in a lift.

The hotel's security staff was able to arrest Gaunt as he tried to escape the premises.

Both sources added that responding police officers found “blood splattered all over the wall of the corridor” where Gaunt beat Walters. They also found the suspect's snap-bag with cocaine in their room.

Walters, who has two children with Gaunt, lost consciousness during the assault.

“I feel sick with what has happened and the worst thing is my children have to look at what he has done to me,” she told the police while she was treated at the Manchester Royal Infirmary for the wounds on her head and body.

Medical findings pointed that Walters facial bleeding, bruises on the left side of her face and a “large bald patch around her ear.”

In addition, the victim also suffered bruises on her body, swollen jaws that prohibits her to fully open her mouth. A 1-inch laceration on the nasal bridge of her nose that needed “corrective surgery.”

Walters said that she couldn't believe that Gaunt could hurt her while at the same time, felt afraid that he “might do something worse” to her or in front of their children.

“I might end up dead,” expressed Walters.

The couple split in 2018 after dating for several years, but agreed to spend a weekend together on March 22.

A resident of Liverpool, Merseyside, Gaunt admitted to have inflicted “grievous bodily harm” and was sentenced by the Manchester Crown Court to 42 months in prison. He also had previous convictions of harassment against Walters.
