  • Milan Jovic says Luka suffered injury doing assigned training program
  • Jovic future gloomy in Real Madrid

Luka Jovic of Real Madrid caused quite a stir recently when he returned to Real Madrid with a fractured foot. Already under a lot of heat or his lackadaisical showing, the 22-year-old is now the subject of potential transfer rumors. Los Blancos spend a hefty $65 million on the Serbian striker but the investment has failed to pay off.

But the key thing about Jovic right now is how he got the injury. Milan Jovic, Luka's father, came out in the open recently and provided some details on his son's injury. Speaking to Spanish publication Kurir, the elder Jovic said that his son was preparing from his home in Belgrade according to the training program given by the club. At one point during an exercise, Luka felt great pain.

"Who could know what was so serious? He was preparing to be like never before, go out and be the best - and this is happening now," Milan Jovic said.

The latest on Jovic is that he will be out for a few weeks. According to the elder Jovic, it would be best for his son to undergo detailed exams to determine the extent of the injury and a plausible time frame for him to return.

Jovic's injury was announced via the team's official website recently. He was diagnosed with an extra-articular fracture in the calcaneus bone of his right foot. The development places the 22-year-old in yet another bad light, having already fallen out of favor with coach Zinedine Zidane.

It has been a tough time for Jovic who had his share of controversy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite calls for everyone to stay at home, the Serbian footballer was spotted outside his apartment breaching lockdown protocols. He has since apologized but such is another point against him. Much of this was covered in a previous post.

The word going around is that Jovic may be on the way out once the current season ends. He has been linked to a possible transfer to Arsenal FC, someone who could fill in the void of a departing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. At least two other teams were also interested in him but may have just passed up on the Serbian.
