Police named a suspect in the murder of Prentis Robinson who recorded his own killing on a Facebook Live video Monday, near Wingate University’s Campus in North Carolina. According to them, Douglas Coulson is the man seen on the Facebook video.

Robinson was walking down the rural road near the campus, broadcasting live with a selfie stick, when a man in a blue jacket approached him and shot him four times. The video showed, minutes before his death, Robinson talking about his desire to move to Atlanta.

The assailant was on the run following the shooting. FBI was assisting the police to track down the killer, New York daily reported.

In the video, Robinson can be heard warning the killer in a subdued tone that he was being filmed. However, that didn’t deter the killer who fired four shots.

"You on Live," Robinson was heard reiterating the statement a number of times.

“It’s very concerning that just a block away from the police department, that something like this would happen,” Wingate Police Chief Donnie Gay told reporters.

Fox 46 news correspondent David Sentendrey tweeted that according to multiple reports, Robinson had annoyed a few people by outing them as drug dealers on Facebook Live. He also said that Robinson was killed minutes after he visited a police department.

"We're pursuing leads and trying to figure out what this is all about," Union County Sheriff Public Information Officer Tony Underwood said.

Robinson who regularly filmed and posted his day to day activities on social media was mourned by followers and friends.

One twitter user said “# PrentisRobinson was a hero. Let us never stop trying to do the right thing. Evil will not win. May you find peace & justice. RIP”

Another person tweeted, "A good, community-minded man murdered by drug dealers for doing the right thing. Remember # PrentisRobinson; an angel on earth, who now joins a realm of angels. May his murderers be brought to justice, and may his family find peace in his legacy of goodwill."

On Facebook, friends and family mourned the death of Robinson who just celebrated his just celebrated his 55th birthday.

Brooke Makayla, a friend of Robinson, wrote “Happy birthday man, RIP you was crazy as hell and always had me and Kasha rolling”

Ann Wingo wrote: “My cuz went out like that, that didn't have to go out like that, whoever did I know they are on the run.”

Robinson’s cousin Walter Rorie said both he and Robinson attended the nearby Forest Hills High School.

“We don’t understand why somebody would want to do this, but that’s what they did,” Rorie said.

When the video began circulating online, Facebook took it down due to the graphic content. A spokeswoman for Facebook said they will apply a “warning screen” to any future uploads and it will be limited to users above 18 years of age.

"This is a terrible incident and our thoughts are with the victim and his loved ones," the spokeswoman said.
