One of Prince Charles' friends recently criticized Meghan Markle's controversial father, Thomas Markle Sr., and her engagement dress.

According to Sebastian Shakespeare, a journalist for Daily Mail, the Duke of Sussex "should have extended the warning to his father Prince Charles's friends, too." As a result, Nicky Haslam, 78, a good friend of the royals, recently made a statement about Markle and her family, specifically her dad.

"They're frightfully common. It would have been awful if that huge lump had been there. The royals probably don't quite know how to deal with them," Haslam said, referring to Markle's father and the rest of her family.

However, Haslam made an exception for Markle's mom, Doria Ragland. "One person who wasn't common was her mother," he said.

Haslam also commented on Markle's Givenchy bridal gown. According to the singer, who once performed in front of the Queen, Markle's wedding dress didn't suit his taste. "I didn't very much like her dress — it didn't fit, among other things," Haslam said. "It should have been made of thinner stuff, it seemed to be made of concrete."

Markle's father was involved in a controversy in the run-up of the royal wedding when it was found out that he agreed to stage his photos and received money from it. Thomas, who was initially set to give Markle away on her big day, eventually canceled his attendance at Prince Harry and Markle's nuptials after undergoing major heart surgery.

Just recently, Thomas agreed to appear on ITV's "Good Morning Britain" and shocked everyone with his revelations, which many deemed as too personal. During his interview, he revealed how Prince Harry advised him to give Donald Trump a chance. He also confessed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex want to have kids soon.

According to Angela Levin, Markle would only be "horrified" over her father's interview. "I can't imagine that Meghan is anything other than horrified that he has told the world that she is desperate for a baby and that they are trying to make a baby," Levin said. "I don't know him but, I think he is perhaps somebody who puts himself first and his daughters needs second."

Following his interview, Thomas revealed that no one from the palace, including his daughter, reached out to him. In fact, he fears that he's being "frozen out."
