  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly have a $100 million contract with Netflix
  • The Sussexes agreed to produce documentaries, docuseries, movies, scripted shows and children's shows
  • Following "Harry & Meghan," the couple executive produced the docuseries "Live to Lead"

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to release more content with Netflix in the future as part of their multimillion-dollar deal with the streamer.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's six-part docuseries, "Harry & Meghan," premiered on the streaming platform last month. It centered on the early days of the couple's courtship and the challenges that led to their decision to leave the royal family in 2020 and relocate to California, where they now live with their two children, 3-year-old Archie and 1-year-old Lilibet.

While the controversial project, which remains Netflix's biggest documentary series release as of writing, dominated headlines, the streaming giant described it as a "limited series," which means that it was self-contained and that a second season is unlikely, according to Insider.

But it's not the last and only project the Sussexes have in store with Netflix. Nearly three years ago, Prince Harry, 38, and Markle, 41, reportedly signed a five-year, $100 million contract with the streamer.

According to multiple outlets, including The New York Times, UsWeekly and Forbes, the couple agreed to produce a wide range of content, including documentaries, docuseries, movies, scripted shows and children's shows, under their production company, Archewell Productions.

"Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope," Prince Harry and Markle said in a joint statement to the New York Times in September 2020. "As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us."

They added, "[Netflix's] unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that unlocks action."

Weeks after "Harry & Meghan," the couple released their next project, a documentary series titled "Live to Lead," which premiered on the platform on Dec. 31.

The seven-part series was inspired by the legacy of the late Nelson Mandela, a South African anti-apartheid activist and the first Black president to lead the country.

According to Netflix's official synopsis, the project "highlights the fundamental values, daily disciplines and guiding principles that leaders employ to motivate others and create meaningful change."

Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not the stars of this series and only introduced each episode, they were credited as executive producers for the project.

"Live to Lead" featured interviews with iconic figures for social change such as Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Greta Thunberg, Jacinda Ardern, Gloria Steinem, Albie Sachs and many more.

Prince Harry and Markle have yet to make an announcement regarding new content for Netflix after "Live to Lead."

But according to Insider, it's possible that their first project for 2023 could be "Heart of Invictus," a documentary that would cover the behind-the-scenes story of the Invictus Games. The international multi-sport event spearheaded by Prince Harry was first held in 2014 for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans.

"Heart of Invictus" was reportedly the first project the Sussexes announced they were producing for Netflix, Insider noted.

In April 2021, the Invictus Games Foundation released an official press release regarding the multi-episode series, revealing it will be helmed by the Oscar-winning team of "The White Helmets" director Orlando von Einsiedel and producer Joanna Natasegara.

The series will "follow a group of extraordinary competitors from around the globe, all service members who have suffered life-changing injuries or illnesses on their road to the Invictus Games The Hague," the statement read.

The 2022 event was held in the Netherlands from April 16 to 22 last year and was attended by both Prince Harry and his wife.

Prince Harry said in the press release that the series will hopefully give "communities around the world a window into the moving and uplifting stories of these competitors on their path to the Netherlands."

Town & Country reported that Prince Harry serves as an executive producer and will make an appearance on camera. But it's unclear whether Markle would be involved in the project.
