Prince Harry has always known that he is only number two.

According to Majesty editor Ingrid Seward in “Meghan and Harry: The Baby Years,” the Duke of Sussex was made to feel like he was only second best growing up. Prince Harry is aware that he is always behind his big brother Prince William and the people around them were conscious of this fact, too. This made Princess Diana anxious for her son because, for her, it was something he should not feel for his age.

“Harry has always known he was number two. And obviously Diana was very anxious that he shouldn't feel that,” Seward said.

“Other members of the Royal Family were very conscious he was number two.”

Seward recalled how Queen Mother would call Prince William to come and sit next to her, leaving Prince Harry completely left out. When Prince William was 7 years old, the second-in-line to the throne told Princess Diana that he wanted to be a police officer to protect her. Prince Harry reminded him that it was impossible because his big brother “got to be king.“

Princess Diana’s former protection officer, Ken Wharfe, also recalled an incident when Prince Harry made a declaration. It happened during a car ride with Princess Diana and their nanny.

“It's alright, I can do anything because I won't be King. You will be, therefore I can do what I want,” Prince Harry told Prince William.

According to Wharfe, Prince William “gleefully liked” the acknowledgment from his younger brother. He was happy that Prince Harry knew he would be king in the future.

Prince William and Prince Harry grew up with a close bond. When Prince William married Kate Middleton, he was their third wheel.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry always attend royal engagements together. Due to this, they were called, “the royal trio.” However, things changed when Prince Harry married Meghan Markle.

Some netizens blamed Markle for Prince Harry’s split from Prince William and Middleton. One said that the duchess split her own family and is now starting to separate the royal family.

Another user said that Prince Harry got along well with his brother and sister-in-law until Markle joined the royal family.
