KEY POINTS

  • Prince William and Prince Harry are unlikely to spend Christmas, New Year's and birthdays together
  • The Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex appeared very close at the unveiling of Princess Diana's statue
  • The royals could have occasional meetings if things were to go well, but it might not be high on their agenda

Prince William and Prince Harry's relationship may have already improved, but it is still unlikely for the royal siblings to spend the holidays together, according to one royal expert.

The Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex have been rumored to be at odds. However, they showed no signs of tension when they reunited at the unveiling of their mom Princess Diana's statue earlier this month. Despite that, it is still unlikely for Prince Charles' sons to reunite on Christmas and New Year's Day.

"It’s perhaps unlikely that they’re going to be spending what we would think of as quality family time together at Christmas and New Years and birthdays," royal expert and British journalist Jonathan Sacerdoti told Us Weekly.

Usually, the members of the royal family spend the holidays together at Sandringham House, the Queen's country estate in Norfolk. However, Sacerdoti felt that the chances that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will join them are slim.

"Just remember that the queen hasn’t met her latest granddaughter. It doesn’t seem likely that she’s going to anytime soon. She’s barely seen Archie for quite a while," he explained. "On a human family level, forgetting them being the royal family, there’s already quite some frostiness and distance there. So I suspect if things can go well, [then] maybe they’ll have the occasional meeting, but I don’t think it seems very high on anyone’s agenda."

Prince William and Prince Harry's relationship took a turn after the latter decided to step down from his royal duties. Their relationship allegedly got worse after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spoke with Oprah Winfrey for a CBS special where they claimed that a member of the royal family raised concerns about their son's skin color. Their statement sparked racism allegations against the royal family, which Prince William denied.

"We’re very much not a racist family," the Duke of Cambridge was quoted by The Guardian, as saying.

During Prince William and Prince Harry's most recent public reunion, both looked very relaxed. Princess Diana's former voice coach Stewart Pearce even said the royal siblings "denoted the essence of peace." He doubted the rumored rift but felt that there was a "slight disagreement" between the two.

"William and Harry spent the morning before the statue unveiling looking through old keepsakes, notes from Diana and bonding," an unnamed source also told Us Weekly. "They have absolutely turned a new page in their relationship and have started the healing. Everyone around them was thrilled to see how close they were on the day of the statue unveiling."

Meanwhile, Kate Middleton is reportedly playing as a peacemaker between her husband and brother-in-law. The future queen consort has been reaching out to her sister-in-law, Markle, as well.

"Tensions have eased between Meghan and Kate," another insider relayed to Us Weekly. "Kate even sent Meghan a gift for the baby. They’re in a better place and have exchanged texts since the birth of Lilibet."
