Prince Philip reportedly kept a shocking item on the Royal Yacht Britannia that showed his mischievous side.

In Kitty Kelley’s book, “The Royals,” it was revealed that in Queen Elizabeth II’s passageway on the yacht, Prince Philip kept a photo of Lord Mountbatten with actor Cary Grant in Las Vegas. The snap, which was given to the Duke of Edinburgh by his uncle, Lord Mountbatten, also featured two showgirls in feathered boas.

According to Kelley, the two men turned their backs toward the camera and so did the showgirls. The women’s rhinestoned-thonged backsides were not covered with feathers so they are showing in the picture.

“Mountbatten found the picture of the bare-bottomed showgirls so amusing he had it blown up and hung in the Queen’s passageway on the royal yacht. Philip, who roared with laughter would not remove it, even for state guests,” she wrote.

One of the Queen’s private secretaries had a different view about Prince Philip’s fondness for the smutty things in life. Kelley quoted the unnamed secretary as saying that the Duke is very lewd and Germanic. She also said that the private sectary attributed the royal’s vulgar preoccupation with nudity to his Mountbatten origins.

In related news, the 97-year-old retired royal made headlines today after it was reported that he has voluntarily given up his driver’s license. Prince Philip’s decision came less than a month after he got involved in a car accident near the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

Last month, Prince Philip’s Land Rover collided with a Kia outside the private estate’s premises. Prince Philip did not suffer from any injury. However, the two people in the other vehicle suffered from minor cuts and bruises. Emma Fairweather also had a broken wrist.

Days after the accident, Prince Philip sent a letter of apology to Fairweather. He revealed that the strong sunlight made it impossible for him to see the road clearly.

“The sun was shining low over the main road... In normal conditions, I would have no difficulty in seeing traffic coming,” he wrote.
