  • Prince William was so upset that he waited for eight days to pass before meeting Prince Harry's baby

Prince William "did not think too highly" of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's strategy to conceal the details of their son Archie's birth, according to a new book.

Royal biographer Robert Lacey released a new book, entitled "Battle of Brothers: William, Harry and the Inside Story of a Family in Tumult." In the book, he detailed the royal brothers’ feud including the Duke of Cambridge's reaction to the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes' move to keep Markle's delivery a secret. The future king was allegedly not enthusiastic that the couple delayed the announcement of Markle's labor eight hours after she delivered Archie.

"Baby Archie had arrived with the dawn at 5:26 a.m., allowing grandmother Doria [Ragland] and the happy couple to return to Windsor with their precious cargo undetected," Lacey wrote as quoted by Us Weekly.

"Their stratagem was bolstered by Buckingham Palace’s putting out a strangely misleading statement at 2 p.m. that day saying that the Duchess of Sussex was just going into labour — when she had, in fact, been delivered of her new son eight hours earlier."

The confusion allegedly struck a nerve with Kate Middleton's husband who "did not think too highly of Harry and Meghan’s ‘prima donna’ maneuvers to conceal the birth of their son," Lacey claimed.

Prince William was so bothered that he waited for full eight days before he and his wife, Middleton, visited to meet Archie. But the other royals including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles immediately visited to meet the new addition to the royal family.

In the same book, Lacey claimed that there is "fundamental conflict" between Princess Diana and Prince Charles' sons because the siblings do not hesitate to tell each other their feelings, and Prince Harry didn't like it when Prince William advised him to slow down with his romance with Markle while they were still dating. The younger royal’s response was allegedly a “brusque and offended pushback.”

"Here we have a couple of brothers who loved each other dearly — most profoundly and genuinely, in fact—but who could give as good as they got when it came to a clash over something that mattered intensely to them,” Lacey wrote.

“For William, it was the future state of his monarchy — his sacred trust; while for Harry it was the love of the complex and captivating woman who had finally made sense of his life.”
