Prince William reportedly struggled with his relationship with Kate Middleton due to all of the temptations surrounding him.

In the book “William and Catherine,” royal author Andrew Morton claimed that the Duke of Cambridge faced an emotional conflict when the Duchess of Cambridge told him that she wanted a commitment but was unsure if he wanted the same thing.

“Siren voices were calling suggesting that the grass was greener on the other side of the fence. For an unsettled suitor, temptation came in the form of his fellow officers of the Blues and Royals, nicknamed the ‘Booze and Royals,’” Morton said.

Prince William reportedly found himself juggling his romance with night-time drinking sessions with his friends from the Army.

“The juxtaposition of the prince acting like a bachelor having a good time and the last picture of him and Kate together, wearing dowdy matching tweed outfits at the at the Cheltenham races in March while looking gloomy and ill at ease, indicated that all was not well in Wills’ world,” he said.

Royal author Marcia Moody said the same thing in her 2010 book “Kate.” She said that the glum snaps of the royal couple in tweed outfits were indicative of the rot that had set into their relationship.

Morton said that a few months later, Prince William decided to call it quits with Middleton. The other reasons for their split had to do with the future King’s friends convincing him that he could do better by dating someone else.

But Prince William and Middleton’s tumultuous relationship still had a happy ending. After two brief breakups, Prince William proposed to Middleton in 2010. On April 29, 2011, they tied the knot at Westminster Abbey.

The royal couple now shares three children together, Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 1. There are rumors that they may be working on baby number and an announcement may be imminent this year.
