Prince William committed an awkward blunder when he awarded Emma Thompson with her damehood.

The British actress recounted the incident during her recent appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” Thompson said that instead of placing the pin on just her clothes, the Duke of Cambridge accidentally pinned her damehood badge on her boob. Upon hearing the story, host Ellen DeGeneres could not help but feel shocked.

“Exactly! And it’s a little bit of a nipple moment and you go, ‘Gosh, I wasn’t expecting that…’ And I’m pretty low slung these days, so both times it hurt!” she said.

Thompson also revealed that Prince William became aware of what happened after she let out an inappropriate noise at the Buckingham Palace. But despite the awkward incident, Thompson said that she adores Prince William and she’s known him since he was little.

When they saw each other at the formal occasion, Thompson could not help but ask the Duke of Cambridge if she could kiss him as she would normally do, but he said she couldn’t. After all, they were not the only two people during the ceremony and there are certain rules that non-royals need to abide by when interacting with the British royal family.

Meanwhile, Thompson also responded to the backlash that she received for wearing a white Stella McCartney shoes to the ceremony. Some critics slammed the “Love Actually” star on Twitter by saying that her shoes were too casual for such a formal occasion.

However, the actress stood by her decision by saying that her trainers were posh.

“You get a big old badge, you get two badges, and I was wearing exactly those shoes and they gave me such hell,” she said.

In related news, Prince William also made headlines this week after it was revealed that Princess Diana gave the palace an ultimatum during her trip to Australia and two years after his birth.

Royal author Arthur Edwards said that the only way for Princess Diana to agree to go on the tour with Prince Charles is if she would bring Prince William with him.
