They have seemed to be as close as two brothers can be over the years, but it appears a query Prince William once made about Prince Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle has led to some discord between the two royals.

While there’s been several stories over the last few months detailing an alleged feud between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, it appears the real drama has actually bene between their husbands. According to the documentary “Princesses At War,” trouble started with the young royals when Prince William questioned the speed his brother’s relationship with the American actress was moving at, and that didn’t sit well with Prince Harry.

“William was quite concerned that the relationship had moved so quickly,” royal author Katie Nicholl said in the documentary (via The Sun).

Nicholl stated that before Prince Harry announced his engagement in November 2017, his brother questioned the relationship’s pace since they had only been together just over a year at that point, but Harry didn’t appreciate it and took the comment the wrong way.

“What was meant as well-intended brotherly advice just riled Harry,” she added. “harry is hugely protective of Meghan, he saw that as criticism, he interpreted that as his brother not really being behind this marriage.”

“I don’t think things have been quite right ever since,” she said.

Prince William famously dated Duchess Kate for several years before proposing to her in 2010. Meanwhile, Prince Harry only began dating the “Suits” star in 2016.

News of alleged feuds within the royal family reached a fever pitch at the end of 2018, following dual announcements that the brothers were looking to “split” the monarchy up in the future, as well as the news that Harry and Meghan would be moving out of Kensington Palace and instead making their home at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
