Princess Diana celebrated Christmas with her sons and the other members of the royal family in Sandringham while she was still married to Prince Charles.

In one of her throwback pictures, the Princess of Wales is wearing a blue hat, coat, and skirt while standing behind Prince William. Her hands are clasped together while smiling from ear to ear and looking at a young girl giving Queen Mother red roses.

The photo of Princess Diana standing outside Sandringham was taken in 1991 during the royal family’s Christmas celebration. Also in the photo are Prince Harry, Princess Margaret and Queen Elizabeth II.

Last month, Town & Country also compiled photos of the late Princess Diana during her Christmases with the royal family. In one of the pictures, the mom of two is seen playing with Prince William while he is being carried by Prince Charles. Princess Diana is wearing a red dress and smiling while inside Kensington Palace.

In 1992, Princess Diana also posed with author and politician Lord Jeffrey Archer and former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Lord Denis Healey, who both dressed as Santa Claus. The trio attended a lunch together. Prior to her public outing, Princess Diana and Prince Charles first announced their separation during that same year.

One year later, the Princess of Wales was photographed walking on Bond Street in Central London with a bouquet of flowers in her hands. Princess Diana’s last Christmas took place in 1996 after her divorce from Prince Charles was finalized.

Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom passed away on Aug. 31, 1997, following a fatal car crash in Paris. At that time, she was with her boyfriend, Dodi Al Fayed, who also passed away in the accident.

But the Princess of Wales’ last Christmas with the royal family was in 1994. According to the Associated Press, the mom of two canceled her plans to attend the Christmas celebrations in Sandringham in 1995, and this was the first time that she was away from her children during the occasion.

At that time, Princess Diana enjoyed a quiet Christmas by herself in Kensington Palace.
