Princess Diana reportedly had a shocking plan for herself and Prince William while she was still married to Prince Charles.

In the book “William and Catherine,” royal biographer Andrew Morton claimed that the Princess of Wales had something else in mind that’s why she decided to marry the future King.

“The Princess had another agenda: overarching scheme for which William, as he matured and began to realize the relentlessly constricting position that is the Head of State’s, did not particularly thank her for,” Morton said.

When Princess Diana was still alive, she saw herself as the Queen Mother of the 21st century. And the only way for her to earn the title is if Prince William will be named King after Queen Elizabeth II passes away.

During her interview with Morton in 1991, Princess Diana made it seem as though her royal title and her son’s position in the monarchy are the two most important things to her.

“If I were to write my own script, I would hope that my husband would go off with this lady [Camilla Parker Bowles] and leave me and the children to carry the Wales name until William ascends the throne. I’ll be behind them all the way,” she said.

Unfortunately for Princess Diana, Prince William didn’t want to skip Prince Charles’ generation and become King after his grandmother’s passing. In fact, Morton said that Prince William wants to delay his coronation as much as possible.

The eldest son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana reportedly wanted to live a life without being hemmed in by the metaphorical prison walls of the palace. But at the end of the day, Morton said that Princess Diana’s mindset was inspired by her difficult relationship with Prince Charles.

During the fall out of their marriage, the former royal couple used their sons as pawns in a so-called public relations war. Prince Charles and Princess Diana divorced in 1996.
