Princess Diana has inspired Meghan Markle as a teenager even though they have not met.

At that time, the Duchess of Sussex couldn’t have predicted that she will share a special link with the Princess of Wales through Prince Harry. Royal author Angela Levin said in “Harry: Conversations With the Prince” that just like the mom of two, the “Suits” alum also felt strongly about helping the less fortunate, which may have been inspired by Princess Diana.

“She always admired Princess Diana’s good deed. I went with her to schools where there were less fortunate kids… Meghan would collect toys, gifts, and clothes for them,” Markle’s friend told Levin.

Growing up, Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland, also taught her daughter to appreciate everything that she has since not everyone is as lucky as her.

“Doria and Meghan’s grandmother Jeanette, a woman born into poverty in Cleveland Ohio, had clear ideas on how to bring up Meghan, who they called ‘Flower.’ In common with Harry’s mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, Doria wanted her to be aware of the raw realities of life.

During a previous interview, Markle also credited her mom for teaching her how to appreciate the simple things in life. She said that Ragland raised her to be a global citizen with eyes that are open to the harsh realities of the world.

At the age of 10, Ragland took her to the slums of Jamaica and she saw poverty at a different level and the situation registered in her mind. Several years later, Markle’s passion for charity work became one of the things that Prince Harry loved most about her.

According to Levin, Markle was unlike all of the other women that Prince Harry previously dated. Even though she’s not regal, she has strong values that make it easier for her to understand the customs and traditions of the British Royal Family. For this reason, Markle has a lot in common with her husband.
