Princess Diana had worn a one-shoulder dress just like Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, and there were no reports of the princess breaking royal protocols.

The photographs of the late Princess of Wales wearing one-shoulder gowns on multiple occasions have resurfaced, and Princess Diana looked regal in the them.

The snaps were shared on Twitter and netizens discussed the double standard debate involving Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. One online user said that there was no double standard issue because the “no showing shoulders” rule only applies to clothes worn during the day. Hence, the royals could pretty much wear shoulder-baring gowns in the evening.

Tiwtter user Floozy-Flopsie Jessie said Markle’s fans could be “so limp” for getting upset over the smallest things, adding that they could be clueless as well.

“Since when is that rule implemented. Diana with one shoulder or no shoulder 1983-1991,” Fleur responded while sharing Princess Diana’s photos wearing gowns with the same cut and design as Middleton and Markle’s dresses that sparked the double standard debate.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a one-shoulder gown at the BAFTAs on Sunday. Middleton was praised by netizens because she looked “stunning” and “gorgeous.” Others even called her a “goddess.”

On the other hand, Markle wore a similar gown a few months ago when she attended the British Fashion Awards. The Duchess of Sussex opted for a black one-shoulder Givenchy gown but was criticized for being too “vulgar” for wearing it.

Online trolls attacked Prince Harry’s wife for her choice of gown but praised Prince William’s spouse for wearing the same outfit, which triggered some netizens to air their disappointment on Twitter and rant about “double standards” and “racism.”

Markle’s fans attacked Middleton by describing the royal mom of three’s gown as “too vulgar” just like how the media described Markle’s dress. Netizens also condemned Middleton for wearing a white gown without an undergarment.

“No bra with off the shoulder and white on top of that,” Ann wrote. The Twitter user continued by pointing out how Markle was criticized for wearing the same outfit and added that at least the Duchess of Sussex didn’t wear white, unlike Middleton whose nipples were visible in her dress.

“I see nipples.. too vulgar for me!” a different user added.
